Austrian Partition - Galicia, Maria Theresa (1748-80), 30 krajcar (two-zloty coin) 1775, Vienna mint.
A rather nice piece with a well-preserved portrait of the empress, which is usually badly worn.
In 1564, the two principalities were incorporated into the Kingdom of Poland, joining them to the province of Cracow, creating the Silesian district. In 1772, the area of the Silesian district included seven towns and with a population of 164,577. After the First Partition of Poland in 1772, the area fell to the Austrian monarchy, becoming part of the lands known as Galicia for short.
