Austrian partition - Galicia, Maria Theresa (1748-80), 30 krajcar (two-zloty coin) 1776, mint Vienna

A rather nice piece with a decently preserved portrait of the empress, which is usually badly worn out

In 1564, the two principalities were incorporated into the Kingdom of Poland, annexing them to the Cracow province, creating the Silesian district. In 1772, the area of the Silesian district included seven towns and with a population of 164,577. After the First Partition of Poland in 1772, the area fell to the Austrian monarchy, becoming part of the lands known as Galicia for short. After the Third Partition, the official name of these lands was the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria, together with the Grand Duchy of Cracow and the Duchy of Oświęcim and Zator.
