Jagiellonians, Sigismund I the Old (1506-1548), Danzig penny 1538, FALSE FALSE FIGURE FROM THE EARLY EARLY EARLY EARLY EARLY FALSE FIGURE
nice piece fully legible, patina
BIG DESTINY - forger, knew for sure (very accurately made inscription in the rim and image of the ruler and coat of arms of Gdansk) the secrets of 16th century minting (most likely he was an employee of some mint). We will never know whether he intentionally (or inadvertently) made a mistake in the date of the coin and minted 1438 instead of 1538. Thus, we can risk the claim that thus we have the oldest Polish DATED coin because it is dated in the 15th century, so far the oldest known dated coins are half-pennies of Sigismund I the Old from 1507. BIG CURIOSITY!
silver-plated copper, weight 2.36 grams, diameter 23.9 mm
