Lot description Show orginal version
Grade: XF/XF-

Jagiellonians, Sigismund I the Old (1506-1548), half-penny without date, Kraków mint.

Obverse: ✠MONETA:SIGISMVNDI

Reverse: ✠REGIS:POLONIE

Diameter 18.4 mm Weight 0.72 g

The coin has a very good presentation in spite of a slight scarcity. Half-pennies without a date were most likely minted for Sigismund the Old for the purpose of waging war against the Teutonic Order. There are two basic types of such half-pennies, with REX and REGIS in the reverse legend. The coin comes in an envelope with a description of the legend, diameter and weight, as well as the characteristic features of the coin.
