Vasa, Sigismund III Vasa (1587-1632), 1613 grosz with portrait of the king, mint of Krakow
A rare coin from a biennial issue at the Bydgoszcz mint with a broad portrait of the king and the absence of the letter L in the rim, struck using the traditional hammer method rather than the roller method. Crown portrait pennies of Sigismund III Vasa were minted at the Bydgoszcz Mint only 2 years 1613-1614, after a 14-year hiatus, and these are the last coins with the image of this king in this denomination. From 1614 onward, half-tracks, a more profitable bullion denomination, began to be minted.
