A rarer type of coin. During the reign of Jan III Sobieski, sixpences were largely minted; orts only in 1677-79 and 1684, as well as the later vintages of 1685 and
1686, which are practically not found in commerce. The piece on offer is a variety with dots under the denomination (1-8)
obverse: bust of the king in robe and laurel wreath on his head, legend in the rim JOAN.III D.G REX POL.M.D.L.R.RP.
reverse: crowned five-field shield, on the sides the denomination (1-8 and dots under the digits), legend MON.NOVA.ARG.(Leliwa) REG.POLON.1678
